The last talk in the series looks at movies made after 2008 when Barack Obama was elected as the first black President of the United States. This was a momentous event in American history but those high hopes waned in part because Obama, the avatar of another New Frontier, couldn't be found and wasn't allowed to exist.
Kevin Courrier is a writer/broadcaster, film critic and lecturer. He began his radio career in the eighties as co-host of the interview program
On the Arts for CJRT-FM. He moved to CBC Radio, as a producer and film critic, and now co-produces and hosts music documentaries
for CBC Radio 2. He has published five books, launched a popular online journal (Critics at Large) and teaches film courses to seniors
at Ryerson University.
